Archive Zebra Rock sphere from the workshop — sphere number 19 in the series. Cut to 90mm and polished to a smooth, even finish. The banding on this piece is finer and more intricate than most Zebra Rock — the red and cream layers shift subtly as the sphere turns, giving it a quieter, more detailed character.
Zebra Rock forms in a geologically unique window — a Precambrian sedimentary deposit exclusive to the East Kimberley, Western Australia, estimated at around 600 million years old. The fine banding is thought to result from oscillating iron-rich fluids moving through silica-rich mud before lithification, creating the repeating pattern that makes each piece unlike any other stone on Earth.
Sourced from the Kimberley region of Western Australia. See the current sphere collection.
