Archive Zebra Rock sphere from the workshop — sphere number 10 in the series. Cut to 90mm and polished to a high finish, weighing 302g. The banding on this piece runs in tight, even lines across the surface — the kind of pattern that only shows itself fully once the stone is shaped into a sphere.
Zebra Rock is a rare sedimentary stone found only in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. Formed around 600 million years ago, its striking red and white banding is believed to have developed through rhythmic chemical processes during the slow compaction of fine-grained silica-rich sediment — a phenomenon so precise it still isn't fully understood by geologists.
Sourced from the Kimberley region of Western Australia. See the current sphere collection.
