Black Opal Ring – 18K Yellow Gold, Semi-Dark, Green & Red Flash

This ring carries a Lightning Ridge black opal with a semi-dark body — dark enough that the colour sits in clear contrast against it, warm enough that it never looks heavy on the hand. The stone shows a flash of colour that moves as the ring turns: green dominates, with red entering at certain angles. It is set in a bezel of 18K yellow gold, which holds the stone flush and close to the finger. The warmth of the gold draws out the green and keeps the red flash reading as a complement rather than a competition. It arrives in size J½ AU (5 US / 9¼ EU) and can be resized.
About Black Opal
Black opal is the rarest and most sought-after variety of Australian opal, mined almost exclusively from Lightning Ridge in New South Wales. Its dark body tone — from dark grey to jet black — creates a dramatic backdrop that intensifies the stone's natural play-of-colour, producing vivid flashes that appear to glow from within. Black opal with strong fire is particularly prized by collectors and is considered among the most valuable gemstones in the world.
