Brazilian Blue Agate Slab – Polished Both Sides, 245 × 200 mm, 2kg

A hefty 2kg Brazilian agate slab, polished on both sides to display the natural light-blue body colour and the fine-grain banding that makes Brazilian agate so sought-after. At 245 × 200 × 25 mm it has proper weight and presence as a decorative specimen — equally at home on a plinth or a studio desk.
Untreated, undyed — the pale blue tone is how the stone formed.
About Agate
Agate is a fine-grained variety of silica (chalcedony) first described by the Ancient Greeks on the banks of the Achates River in Sicily — the river gave the stone its name. It forms inside gas cavities in volcanic rock as mineral-rich water slowly deposits layers of silica, producing agate's characteristic concentric banding. Brazilian agate is particularly prized for its fine grain and brilliance when polished.
