The world's only known deposits of Australian Zebra Rock were formed around 600 million years ago during the Pre Cambrian period. These unique rocks can be found in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia and are characterized by fine-grained siliceous argillite, with rhythmic red bands or spots set against a lighter background. While the exact formation process is still debated, it is believed that the rocks were deposited as sediment in calm or deep waters, resulting in the distinct iron oxide coloration seen in the patterns.
