Tiger-iron is composed of narrow bands of hematite, tiger eye and jasper. It is mined from an archaen formation (3 thousand million years) in the Ord range near Mt Goldsworthy, Western Australia.
Tiger-Eye itself was originally Crocodilite 50 million years ago.
Tiger-Eye is most commonly golden-yellow, however, blue, red, green and brown have been found.
